Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how MyChembur handles your information. We aim to keep the app simple, transparent, and focused on local stories, community updates, and only the data needed to run the service.
Effective Date
8 April 2026
Information We Collect
MyChembur does not require you to create a public profile to read stories, and we no longer collect personal user details in onboarding.
Depending on how you use the app and your device settings, we may process limited information such as:
- Push notification information, including your APNs device token, notification permission status, and whether notifications are enabled
- App and system details used for push subscription records, such as app version, build number, bundle identifier, and APNs environment
- Article feed data, such as stories, categories, source links, and images fetched from the MyChembur backend
- Local app state stored on your device, including onboarding completion, downloaded articles, and push subscription state
We do not ask for precise location data, contacts, photos, or payment information in order to use the app.
How Your Data Is Used
The information we collect is used only to:
- Remember whether you have already finished onboarding
- Send and manage push notifications for local updates
- Sync stories from the backend and keep the feed current
- Show article categories, summaries, source links, and images in the app
- Troubleshoot issues, improve app reliability, and maintain the service
We do not sell your personal information, rent it, or share it with third-party advertisers.
On-Device Data
App state, push subscription state, and downloaded articles are stored on your device using Apple’s local storage framework. In normal use, that data stays on your device unless it is backed up or synced through services you control.
When you open an article’s source link, the app may present the publisher’s page in Safari or a browser view. That visit is subject to the publisher’s own privacy practices.
Push Notifications
If you allow notifications, MyChembur registers your device with Apple Push Notification service and stores the device token so we can send updates. You can disable notifications at any time in iOS Settings.
If you deny notification permission, the app will not send push notifications to that device.
Data Sharing
MyChembur may share limited information with service providers that help operate the app, such as hosting, backend, database, and push delivery providers. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the security and integrity of the service.
Backend services currently used by the app include Supabase for article content and CNCT Media-managed endpoints for push subscription handling.
Data Retention
We keep push subscription records for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the app, support users, maintain records, and satisfy legal or operational requirements. Content in the feed remains until it is updated or removed by the administrator. Data stored only on your device remains there until you remove the app or clear its data through available system controls.
Third-Party Services
MyChembur may rely on third-party services and infrastructure, including:
- Apple services for app distribution, notifications, Safari-based browsing, and device-level privacy controls
- Supabase for the story feed that powers the app
- CNCT Media web infrastructure used to receive push subscription data
These services operate under their own privacy terms and platform settings.
Children’s Privacy
MyChembur is designed for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us directly, please contact us so we can review and address it.
Your Choices
You can stop using the app at any time, uninstall it from your device, and manage notifications, permissions, and backup settings through your Apple device settings. You can also contact us if you want help with access, correction, or deletion requests for information we hold in our backend systems.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect app improvements, legal requirements, or operational changes. When we do, we will update the effective date on this page.
