10% Water Cut Coming To Chembur Taps From October 16
Chembur households should start planning their water use now. The Maharashtra government on Monday announced a minimum 10% water cut across all urban and rural local bodies from October 16, citing a deficient monsoon and the possibility of drought-like conditions linked to El Niño. State water resources minister Girish Mahajan said all municipal corporations, municipalities and gram panchayats have been directed to implement the cut, with drinking water given the highest priority and reserved up to August 31, 2027.
Local bodies have also been asked to run special drives against leakages and to use treated wastewater for gardening, construction and washing. The minister appealed to citizens to use water judiciously.
