Chembur Civic Pool Shut for Weeks, Members Upset

Chembur Civic Pool Shut for Weeks, Members Upset

Summer vacations are here, but thousands of Chembur residents are still waiting for their neighbourhood swimming pool to reopen. The BMC-run General Arun Kumar Vaidya Swimming Pool in Chembur has reportedly remained shut since mid-April due to a leakage issue, leaving nearly 5,000 members frustrated over the prolonged closure.

According to reports, members were initially told the pool would remain closed for only a couple of days for maintenance work. Weeks later, many residents claim there is still no visible repair work underway, and even the exact source of the leakage has not yet been identified.

The timing has only added to the frustration. With summer holidays underway and Mumbai currently facing water-cut concerns, many fear the reopening could face further delays. Some members have also raised concerns over annual fees already paid for access to the facility.

For many Chembur families, the pool has long been more than just a recreational space – it’s a regular summer routine.

Now, the big question remains: when will Chembur’s civic pool finally reopen?
