Chembur has another sporting reason to celebrate. Chembur Gymkhana has officially clinched the prestigious Motiram Cup Elite Division badminton title, defeating Bombay Gymkhana 2-0 in the final and reaffirming the suburb’s long-standing sporting legacy.
Organised by the Greater Mumbai Badminton Association (GMBA), promoted by Badminton Gurukul, and hosted at Willingdon Sports Club, the tournament saw some of Mumbai’s strongest badminton clubs compete across divisions. Chembur Gymkhana’s dominant run throughout the tournament culminated in a convincing final victory that put the suburb firmly at the top of Mumbai’s badminton circuit this season.
Founded in 1947, Chembur Gymkhana has long been one of the suburb’s most iconic sporting institutions and this latest win only adds to its growing reputation across competitive sports.
