FDA Orders Chembur Caterer Shut In Festive Hygiene Drive
Maharashtra’s Food and Drug Administration has ordered S.S. Caterers in Chembur to stop operations immediately after finding it running without a valid food licence and in unhygienic conditions. The action was part of a festive-season crackdown between September 23 and 27 that suspended licences of 13 Mumbai food establishments, including Kyani & Co, Royal China and a Subway outlet. Statewide, the FDA suspended 30 licences and seized about 50.6 tonnes of food worth Rs 1.19 crore. Chembur’s S.S. Caterers was named among the Mumbai units facing enforcement for alleged food-safety and hygiene lapses.
