FDA Suspends Blinkit Licence at Chembur Facility
The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has suspended the food licence of a Blink Commerce Private Limited facility in Chembur following an inspection that found violations of prescribed hygiene and health standards.
The facility, located on Pestom Sagar Road No. 4, was inspected by FDA officials on September 16 as part of a wider festive-season food safety drive across Mumbai and Maharashtra.
According to the FDA, the Chembur facility was found to be in violation of food safety and hygiene requirements. Its licence was suspended with immediate effect, while further legal action is underway.
The action against Blinkit was part of a wider Mumbai crackdown in which the FDA suspended the licences of seven food establishments, including businesses in Colaba, Ghatkopar, Worli and Malad. Across Maharashtra, 27 establishments were inspected, with 14 licences suspended and 13 improvement notices issued.
The FDA's action highlights the importance of maintaining food hygiene and storage standards at facilities handling products consumed by the public.
