BMC, MPCB seal Govandi RMC Plant as residents push to shut the rest
The BMC and the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board have sealed a ready-mix concrete (RMC) plant in Govandi, in the M East ward, on October 23. The action came after 13 corporators from across parties pushed for it.
Corporator Zameer Qureshi says the three remaining allegedly illegal RMC plants in the area, along with the SMS company, are next on the list.
Residents of Govandi and Mankhurd have long complained about dust and air pollution from the plants. According to mid-day, residents have also served their own stop-work notice on the plants.
