Chembur Durga Puja brings Seven Decades of Bengali Tradition to Jawahar Ground
Pujo is back in Chembur. The Chembur Durga Puja Association, founded in 1954, has brought Mumbai’s Bengali community together for more than seven decades, and this year’s celebrations run from October 17 to 21. Expect worship alongside traditional crafts, music, dance and Bengali cuisine, with past idols and pandal decor featuring shola work by artisans from Bengal. The Anando Mela adds cultural performances and community activities, phuchka and patishapta bring familiar flavours, and the annual phuchka-eating competition is always a crowd favourite.
