Chembur Logs Four Unhealthy Air Days as Mumbai’s Smog Season Arrives Early
Mumbai’s air has turned unhealthy nearly two months before winter, and Chembur is feeling it. On Sunday morning, Bandra Kurla Complex recorded an AQI of 425, in the ‘Severe’ category, while Chembur, Deonar, Kurla, Mazgaon and Navy Nagar also showed elevated pollution on the Central Pollution Control Board’s dashboard. Chembur logged four days with unhealthy-range readings, while neighbouring Deonar and Navy Nagar logged seven each. As per an MPCB official, when garbage or plastic waste is burnt in Deonar, the pollution doesn’t stay confined there, and air currents carry it to nearby Chembur and Kurla.
