Heat Alert: Chembur Braces for Another Hot, Humid Saturday
After Mumbai’s first post-monsoon heatwave on Friday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for hot and humid conditions at isolated places on Saturday, October 10. Santacruz recorded 37.8°C on Friday, 4.7°C above normal, while Colaba logged 37°C, with relative humidity at 73% and 81% respectively. IMD said an anticyclone over the city has stalled the cooling sea breeze, though it is expected to weaken slightly from Saturday. Nearby Deonar recorded among the city’s poorest air quality on Friday, with an AQI of 152.
Chembur residents are advised to drink water even when not thirsty, carry ORS, wear loose, light cotton clothes, cover their heads outdoors and avoid the afternoon sun. Seek medical help for dizziness, headache, nausea or fainting.
